As a parent of a high school junior, I wish I had this book two years ago. Its “work-book” format makes it ideal for keeping track of all the details that go into getting accepted at the college that’s right for you. Self-directed students and their parents will work their way through a myriad of check-lists and self-assessments on topics ranging from choosing extra-curricular activities to finding and applying for financial aid.

College Countdown is an excellent, comprehensive planning guide for all high school students preparing for college entrance. Its contents include goal setting, resume writing, college selection, the application process and much more. It is clear that this book helps students organize what they need to know and do including a diary in which to record accomplishments. I recommend this book for all high school students who are college bound.

I’m not for sure what you could do with this book. She is a California teacher who doesn’t have anything new to say. Her financial aid excerpt was basically for California. She missed several tests that students need to take in their high school – and she calls middle school activities Elementary school. Don’t waste your money, there are far better books out there to buy.
