This is a great book for students on how to prepare for college, choose a college, and acquire financial aid/Scholarships–But I was disappointed in Section 4: The Earthly Budget. This section, on how to finance a college education was not as comprehensive as the rest of the sections. I also did not like the fact the author went on about how he disagreed with The Theory of Evolution “ad nausium” throughout the book.

Section 4 was only 32 pages out of 331. However, he did list lots of books, web site links, and articles to help readers get more information and advice.

Overall, I think this book is very useful for parents as well as students in helping them to plan for college. The author has a very entertaining and witty style of writing which makes this book a very fun read.

When I got this book, I expected potentially dry reading. The size is slightly cumbersome but once I got a handle I didn’t want to stop. The author is straightforward and presents facts in a way that really made me think. I will be re-reading this with highlighter in hand, ready to plan some possibilities previously unknown to our family. In fact, I wish we’d had this when my husband was going to school a few years ago!

This man was on the popular tv show Wife Swap. He is a complete idiot! Why would a person take advice for education from a person who does NOT believe in education. He does not believe in going to college or to even a classroom. He believes that it’s ok for a child to be unable to do simple math as long as he has passion for something else in life. I don’t know about you but I will not take advise from someone who can’t take the simple advise of educate your children.

The best education possible is what we all want, but money makes us settle. “A Heavenly College on an Earthly Budget: Double Your Financial Aid – Double Your Degree’s Value” is a guide to those who want to get into college but don’t have the wallets to back up their desires. A straight and honest guide for potential college students who want to stretch their dollars and credentials as far as they will go while remaining realistic, “A Heavenly College on an Earthly Budget” is the down to earth guide that students need.

I think this book is a great tool for the college bound. There is so many helpful tips in here. I also think it can not only help the young freshman level college student, but also the older adult returning student. The book is broken down in two segments. One is geared toward the student and the other is geared toward the parents. So, basically it will help all college students. I just can’t thank Lee Martinson enough for writing it!
