The book has a list of SAT optional colleges that we had no idea existed. My son is an honor student at his high school but did not get a high score on his SAT. He was really upset until I told him that Wake Forest was on the list. Now he’s applying to 3 of the SAT optional schools and is really excited.

I have already put my oldest son through college, but my daughter is a junior and floundering a bit. She has no idea what she wants to do, but she was talking about going to UCF with all her friends. I picked up this book (along with a shopping cart full of others – waste, ugh) and found out the four year graduation rate for UCF was 30% – what?! She has good grades but I really don’t like the odds stacked against her that way. We are looking for other schools now. I wouldn’t have had this info until it was too late if not for this book. Thanks.

A word of caution – The author explains some really great ways to save money, but the specific examples may not apply to you. It is worth reading just to find out though. My wife and I used one example and saved 2000 dollars! I’d say that was worth the price of the book.

This book was quite informative and extremely helpful. The new saying in our house is “20 points may mean $32,000″. I appreciate the suggestions for other helpful reading as well. I think we will be referring to the book often this year and using it for my younger son as well.

my friend told me about this book and it basically said we did everything wrong – my daughter got into duke and we were so excited, then we found out that duke doesnt give scholarships unless you are poor – my husband and i cant spend 50 grand a year so ashley is devastated and we are stuck sending her to community college because she didnt apply to any other schools – i really wish i knew all this sooner
